Welcome to the magic of Dîner en blanc Accra
Springtime in Paris, 1988. A group of friends wants to reconnect and make new friends over dinner. None of them has a garden large enough to host everyone, so they decide to meet in a public garden instead, dressed in white so they can easily find one another in the crowd.
What started as a simple gathering of friends in the Bois de Boulogne has since grown into one of the world’s most extraordinary secret dining experiences. Word spread. The following year, more friends came. And even more the year after that. Soon, passers-by were asking to join, and so began a tradition built on a few simple rules:
• Bring a friend, a gourmet meal and all the trimmings
• Dress in white
• And keep the location a secret until the very last moment.
Today, that single dinner among friends has blossomed into a global phenomenon, celebrated in more than 120 cities across 40 countries, from Paris to New York, Johannesburg to Kigali, Montreal to Melbourne. Each city adds its own local flavour, but the essence remains the same: elegance, mystery, gastronomy and the simple joy of coming together.
How It Works
Every Dîner en Blanc follows the same beloved ritual. To keep the venue secret, guests are given a meeting point and gather there dressed head-to-toe in white. When the time comes, they're led together to a stunning, undisclosed public location. Long banquet tables are set. White linens, fine tableware, and gourmet picnics come out. And then right on cue, thousands of napkins are waved in unison to signal the start of dinner.
As the evening unfolds, guests dine under the stars, reconnect with old friends, and meet new ones. Then, as if by magic, sparklers light up the night, the tables are pushed aside, and the dance floor comes alive, turning an elegant dinner into an unforgettable celebration.
Bringing the Magic to Accra
Last year, we had the honour of bringing this global tradition home, hosting Accra's very first Dîner en Blanc. And what a night it was.
Guests arrived dressed in their finest white, hearts full of anticipation, not knowing where the evening would lead them. By the time the napkins were waved and the Champagne poured, it was clear: Accra had fallen in love with Dîner en Blanc. The energy, the elegance, the sense of community, it was everything we dreamed it would be, and more.
That first evening wasn't just a dinner. It was a statement, that Accra belongs among the great cities of the world hosting this iconic experience. It was a celebration of Ghanaian style, hospitality, and joie de vivre, all wrapped in white.
Our Maiden Edition
We still get goosebumps thinking about it: the arrivals, the fashion, our team of leaders, and our first secret location. The magical moments of the napkin wave and sparklers, the sounds of conversations around the long tables, the laughter, the friendships and the reconnections—it was a night we’ll never forget.
It was a night of firsts: Accra’s first taste of Diner en Blanc magic, and one that left us more inspired than ever for what’s to come.
We’re back in 2026!
This year's edition, themed Une Soirée Parisienne: La Belle Époque, invites you into an evening inspired by the golden age of Parisian elegance, art, fashion, sophistication, and joie de vivre, reimagined right here in Accra. We cannot wait to welcome you back to the table.
